Neck Lift Melbourne

Are you looking to address signs of aging or sagging skin around your neck? Our Melbourne clinic specialises in neck lift surgery, also known as platysmaplasty, to help you achieve a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance.

Neck lift surgery can effectively treat a saggy neck, colloquially referred to as “turkey neck,” by tightening loose skin and underlying muscles, resulting in a smoother, more contoured neckline. This page provides comprehensive information about neck lift surgery and other neck tightening procedures to help you make an informed decision.

Types of Neck Lift Surgeries we Offer

At Knox Plastic Surgery, we offer various neck tightening procedures to address different concerns and achieve optimal results:

Traditional Neck Lift

This procedure involves making incisions behind the ears and sometimes under the chin to remove excess skin and tighten underlying muscles. It is ideal for patients with significant sagging and muscle banding.

Mini Neck Lift

A less invasive option, the mini neck lift focuses on removing smaller amounts of excess skin and tightening muscles through shorter incisions. This is suitable for patients with mild to moderate sagging.

Neck Liposuction

For patients with excess fat but good skin elasticity, neck liposuction can effectively remove fat deposits and contour the neck.

Platysmaplasty

This procedure specifically targets the platysma muscles in the neck, tightening them to reduce the appearance of neck bands and create a smoother profile.

Consultation

During your consultation, Dr John Crock will conduct a thorough evaluation to determine the best neck lift procedure for your needs. We will discuss your goals, medical history, and any previous treatments you may have tried. We encourage you to take this opportunity to ask questions and learn about what to expect before, during, and after the surgery.

Am I a Good Candidate for Neck Lift Surgery?

Good candidates for neck lift surgery are individuals who:

  • Have loose, sagging skin around the neck
  • Experience muscle banding or “turkey neck”
  • Are in good overall health
  • Have realistic expectations about the outcomes
  • Are non-smokers or willing to quit smoking before and after the surgery

Dr Crock and our team will assess your specific concerns and determine if neck lift surgery or another neck tightening procedure is the right choice for you.

Recovery & Post-Procedure

Recovery times vary depending on the type of neck lift procedure performed. Generally, patients can expect:

  • Initial Recovery: Swelling and bruising are common and should subside within 1-2 weeks. Pain and discomfort can be managed with prescribed medications.
  • Return to Activities: Most patients can return to work and light activities within 2-3 weeks, although strenuous activities should be avoided for at least 4-6 weeks.
  • Follow-up Appointments: Regular check-ups with your surgeon to monitor healing and address any concerns.

Risks

As with any surgery, there are potential risks involved, including infection, bleeding, and adverse reactions to anaesthesia. Specific risks associated with neck lift surgery may include scarring, nerve damage, and asymmetry. Our surgeons will discuss these risks with you in detail and take every precaution to minimise them.

Cost

The cost of neck lift surgery varies based on the specific procedure and individual needs. During your consultation, we will provide a detailed cost breakdown, including surgical fees, anaesthesia, and post-operative care. We also offer flexible payment plans to make the treatment accessible.
